
Bhopal: Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (Prime Minister’s Poor Welfare Food Scheme), over 5.25 crore beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh have received free food grains worth approximately Rs 22,800 crore in the last two years. Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput said that under the ‘One Nation-One Ration’ card scheme, an average of 39,000 families from other states are receiving free ration in Madhya Pradesh every month. 16 lakh families are benefiting from inter-district portability every month. In 89 tribal and remote villages, ration is being delivered door-to-door through the ‘Aapka Ration, Aapke Dwar’ (Your Ration at Your Doorstep) scheme.
Highlighting the achievements of the Mohan Yadav government in the last two years, the minister said, “Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, free food grains worth approximately Rs 22,800 crore have been distributed to over 5.25 crore beneficiaries in the state.” Govind Singh Rajput said that the Chief Minister’s Food Service Awareness Program has been implemented to make the ration distribution process transparent.
The minister said, “Under this program, beneficiaries are being informed about the arrival and distribution of ration through SMS. In addition, the list of eligible beneficiaries is read out in Gram Sabhas (village assemblies) on January 26 and October 2.” He said that the Food and Civil Supplies Department prioritizes transparency and technology-based monitoring in the implementation of schemes.
The department has also made significant progress in the e-KYC process, verifying over 17 million beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh in two years. He said, “So far, e-KYC verification of 4.97 crore beneficiaries has been completed, which is 93 percent.” The minister informed that a total of Rs 51,000 crore has been paid to 28 lakh farmers for purchasing crops in the last two years.
For wheat procurement, Rs 2,600 per quintal was paid, which included a bonus of Rs 175 per quintal. Minister Rajput stated that the Weights and Measures Department has implemented the e-KYC verification process. In the last two years, revenue of ₹49.14 crore has been generated through verification and inspections. He informed that 11,700 cases were registered for irregularities found during inspections, and fines amounting to approximately ₹4.50 crore were collected.
Rajput added that his department has prepared an action plan for developing ration shops as ‘Chief Minister’s Nutrition Marts’, integrating software systems, distributing rations using advanced technology, and making extensive arrangements for the supply of rations and gas in the fair area for Simhastha 2028.
