Haridwar: Stampede in Mansa Devi temple, 6 people dead, 15 injured so far

Haridwar: A stampede broke out in the famous Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar, Uttarakhand on Sunday morning due to heavy crowd gathering. 6 people have died in this accident and many people have been badly injured. The administration says that a lot of crowd had gathered in the temple, due to which a stampede broke out. As soon as the information about the incident was received, local police and administrative teams immediately reached the spot and relief work has been started. At the same time, CM Dhami has expressed grief over this incident.

Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey told news agency ANI that a stampede broke out after a huge crowd gathered at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar. 6 people have died in this stampede. He said that I am leaving for the spot.

Did the stampede happen due to electric shock?
According to the initial information, this incident happened on the staircase. It is suspected that there was an electric current in the stairs, after which there was a stampede among the devotees. Garhwal DC Vinay Kumar said that the reasons for the accident are being investigated. Information is coming out that around 15 people were injured in the accident. The death of 6 people has been confirmed in the accident.

CM expressed grief
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the accident. He wrote on the x, ‘Very sad news has been received about the stampede in the Mansa Devi temple located in Haridwar. Teams of uksdrf, local police and other rescue teams have reached the spot and are engaged in relief and rescue operations. I am constantly in touch with the local administration in this regard and the situation is being constantly monitored. I pray to Mata Rani for the safety of all the devotees.’

The local administration says that this stampede happened when a large number of devotees had gathered in the temple for darshan. Since it was Sunday, there was a huge crowd of devotees in the temple and due to the sudden chaos, the situation went out of control. After the accident, there is an atmosphere of chaos in the temple premises and the surrounding area.

After the accident, police and administration teams are busy taking the injured to the nearest hospitals immediately. The exact number of casualties has not been officially confirmed yet, but local officials said that additional forces have been deployed to control the situation.
