New Delhi: Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has expressed concern over the military blockade imposed by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in Gaza and the situation there. She said that this blockade has made the situation in Gaza even more horrific, where people are struggling between life and death.
In her article written for a reputed newspaper, Sonia Gandhi has termed this blockade as a heinous crime against humanity and has demanded immediate intervention from the international community in this matter.
The Congress Rajya Sabha MP wrote in her article that the Israeli Defense Forces in Gaza have not only intensified military operations, but have also deliberately disrupted essential supplies like medicines, food and fuel. This cruel strategy has brought the people living in Gaza to the brink of hunger, disease and deprivation.
‘Infrastructure destroyed’
Gandhi wrote in his article, ‘The blockade has indiscriminately destroyed Gaza’s infrastructure and the unbridled massacre of civilians has led to a man-made tragedy.’
‘People are struggling between life and death’
This blockade is not only depriving the people of Gaza of basic facilities, but is also taking away their right to live. Lack of medicines in hospitals, unavailability of food and fuel shortage have forced millions of people to struggle between life and death. He called it a strategy to force people to die of hunger and called it a crime against humanity.
He has also questioned India’s role in the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Targeting PM Modi, Sonia Gandhi wrote that PM Modi’s shameful silence on the atrocities being committed by Israel on the people of Gaza is disappointing. Now the time has come for him to raise his voice in clear and strong words on behalf of the legacy that India has always represented.
