Rohit Administered Anesthesia; Delhi’s Ali Performed the Surgery… Police Uncover the Full Details of Kanpur’s Kidney Racket

April 03, 2026

Kanpur: In the kidney transplant scandal that has surfaced in Kanpur, shocking secrets are now beginning to unravel, one by one. Through the interrogation of Rajesh Kumar—an Operation Theatre technician arrested in Ghaziabad—and his accomplice, Kuldeep, the police have begun to peel back the layers of this entire criminal network. Both suspects revealed that this was not the work of just one or two individuals, but rather involved a fully organized team.

Interrogation revealed that a doctor—whom they knew as “Dr. Rohit”—was responsible for handling the anesthesia. In other words, it was his duty to sedate the patients. Subsequently, another doctor—”Dr. Ali,” who traveled from Dwarka in Delhi—would perform the surgery. He was the one who executed the entire procedure, from the extraction of the kidney to its transplantation.

Surgical Team Arrived from Delhi, Vanished After Operations
According to Rajesh, Dr. Ali never arrived alone; he was always accompanied by another doctor and two assistants. This entire team would arrive at a scheduled time, perform the operation, and then depart without leaving a trace. Once the surgery was concluded, the team would split up and leave in separate vehicles. One vehicle would head toward Ghaziabad, while the other would set off for Lucknow. This strategy made it extremely difficult for the police to track them. Rajesh Kumar informed the police that he had first met Dr. Rohit approximately three years ago during a medical seminar. That meeting is believed to mark the inception of this criminal network. Impressed by Rajesh’s technical expertise and professional approach, Dr. Rohit offered him a position working alongside him. Gradually, Kuldeep Singh Raghav also joined this chain, and the entire network subsequently became fully operational. According to Rajesh, five kidney transplants had been performed between January and the time of their arrest.

  • CCTV Cameras Switched Off Before Operations
Perhaps the most shocking revelation in this entire case concerns the hospital where these illicit surgeries were conducted. According to reports, the hospital’s CCTV cameras were switched off just before an operation was set to begin. This meant that no footage was recorded throughout the entire duration of the procedure. This clearly indicates that the network had meticulously planned every step in advance to ensure that no evidence remained. When the police interrogated the taxi drivers responsible for transporting the doctors, another startling detail came to light. The drivers revealed that the doctors would cover their faces in such a manner that identifying them became extremely difficult. The investigation also revealed that the method of payment for the doctors and other accomplices had been determined with great deliberation. The fare for vehicles traveling to Ghaziabad was paid in cash, making it difficult to trace; conversely, payments for vehicles traveling to Lucknow were made online, providing the police with several crucial leads. The investigation is now proceeding based on these very leads.

    Suspected Links to Major Hospitals
The investigation has also raised suspicions that the doctors associated with this network may be affiliated with large, renowned hospitals. The police are actively pursuing the angle that this may not merely be a local gang, but rather a large-scale racket spanning across multiple cities. Currently, the biggest challenge in this case is apprehending the doctors who remain at large. The police have dispatched teams to Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Dehradun, where they are continuously conducting raids on potential hideouts. Lookout notices have also been issued against four key doctors. The police suspect that these accused individuals may attempt to flee the country.

Investigation Stalled in Search for Rohit
The central link in this entire case currently rests with ‘Dr. Rohit.’ He is believed to be the pivotal figure within the network—the individual responsible for recruiting the other doctors and technicians. However, Rohit currently remains beyond the reach of the police. Until he is apprehended, it is considered unlikely that the complete picture of this entire network will fully emerge. According to DCP (West) S.M. Qasim Abidi, the police are conducting continuous raids, and a major breakthrough in this case is expected soon. He stated that several crucial leads have been obtained and the investigation is progressing rapidly.
