New Delhi: Aadhaar cards may see a major change in December. To prevent misuse of Aadhaar information, UIDAI is planning to issue new Aadhaar cards with only a photo and QR code. Under the new changes, the name, address, and 12-digit number will no longer be displayed on the Aadhaar card. The card will only have a photo and QR code, keeping all information securely hidden. According to news agency PTI, UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar said that Aadhaar card misuse has increased recently. Operators of SIM cards, hotels, guest houses, societies, events, etc., collect Aadhaar cards and store data, raising the risk of data falling into the wrong hands.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar stated that the new Aadhaar cards will only feature a photo and QR code to facilitate offline verification and prevent misuse of information. Aadhaar number, name, address, and date of birth will no longer be displayed on the card, preventing misuse of personal information. The decision to introduce new rules will be taken at a meeting on December 1, 2025.
After the new cards are introduced, a new UIDAI app will be launched, featuring features like QR code scanning and facial recognition. UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar announced this at an open conference and stated that the new rules are planned for December. Every necessary step will be taken to protect people’s privacy and ensure that no personal data is leaked from Aadhaar cards.
