New Delhi. Amid the Middle East crisis, an inflation shock has struck. Domestic gas cylinder prices have risen by ₹60, while commercial cylinders will become costlier by ₹115. The new rates have been implemented starting today and have also been updated on the IOC (Indian Oil) website.

It should be noted that the price of domestic LPG cylinders had not been increased since April 2025.

  • The price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has now been increased by ₹60. This means that the price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased from ₹853 to ₹913. In Kolkata, the price has increased from ₹879 to ₹939, while in Chennai it has increased from ₹868.50 to ₹928.50.

The price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has also been increased by ₹115. This will also be effective from March 7. In Delhi, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will now cost ₹1883 and in Mumbai ₹1835.

Similarly, in Kolkata, the price has increased from ₹1875.50 to ₹1990, while in Chennai, it has increased from ₹1929 to ₹2043.50. This will directly impact businesses like hotels, restaurants, and small commercial spaces.

This increase comes amid ongoing discussions about India’s energy supply and fuel availability. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had previously assured that there was no shortage of energy supply or fuel in the country, and that consumers need not worry about supply disruptions.

In a post on X, the minister stated, “Our priority is to ensure affordable and sustainable fuel availability for our citizens, and we are doing so with ease. There is no energy shortage in India, and our energy consumers have nothing to worry about.”

Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation also dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming a shortage of petrol and diesel in the country. IOC called such claims baseless.

Earlier on Friday, a government source stated that despite concerns about disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, India is in a “very comfortable position” regarding crude oil, petroleum products, and LPG supplies. According to the source, the country currently has more energy supplies from various sources than would be affected through the Strait of Hormuz.
