
New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing conflict with Iran, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken with US President Donald Trump over the phone for the first time. PM Modi held significant discussions with Trump regarding the situation in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor shared this information via a post on X. According to him, the two leaders discussed the current situation in the Middle East. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
Prior to this, PM Modi had also spoken with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Furthermore, he has held separate conversations with various other leaders across the Middle East, ranging from Saudi Arabia to the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Bahrain.
Closure of the Strait of Hormuz: A Global Concern
The conflict involving Israel, the US, and Iran has now entered its 25th day. The disruption of shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz has become a matter of grave concern for the entire world. PM Modi advocates that the Strait of Hormuz should be kept open for the sake of humanity through the medium of dialogue. PM Modi has also issued an appeal for peace through dialogue. His conversation with Trump on Tuesday marked their first interaction since the outbreak of hostilities between Israel and the US on one side, and Iran on the other.
