
Visakhapatnam: A fire broke out in two coaches of the Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express in the Yelamanchili area of Andhra Pradesh. One passenger died in the incident. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and a forensic investigation is underway. An official said that one of the two coaches that caught fire had 82 passengers, while the other had 76.
Police received information about the fire at 12:45 AM
A police officer said that they received information about the fire in the train at 12:45 AM. After the accident, a body was recovered from the B-1 coach that was engulfed in flames. The deceased has been identified as Chandrasekhar Sundaram. After the incident, the two affected coaches were detached from the train, and the train was sent to its destination, Ernakulam. The passengers of the two affected coaches will also be sent to their destination soon. Two forensic teams are investigating the cause of the fire.
Both coaches completely gutted by fire
According to media reports, the fire broke out in coaches B-1 and M-2. All the passengers were sleeping peacefully when the fire started. As soon as the loco pilot noticed the fire, he immediately stopped the train. Firefighters were immediately informed. By the time the firefighters arrived, both coaches were completely gutted, and the entire station was covered in smoke. In addition to the death of one passenger, some other passengers also sustained minor injuries. However, all the passengers’ belongings were destroyed in the fire. Due to the accident, all trains running on the Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada route have been canceled for the time being.
