Bangladesh said on Jaishankar’s statement – there is no need to worry about the minorities of our country

February 25, 2025

Dhaka. Bangladesh has also responded to the statement of Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. Bangladesh has said that India should not worry about the minorities of our country. Along with this, Bangladesh has also asked India to clarify its stand on relations. Jaishankar had said that Bangladesh should clarify what kind of relationship it wants to have with India.

According to the Dhaka Tribune, Foreign Affairs Advisor Mohammad Tauheed Hussain in the Interim Government said, ‘Jaishankar has once again talked about minorities. However, the issue of minorities has mainly arisen from the distorted information by the Indian media. The most important thing is that the issue of minorities in Bangladesh should not be a matter of concern for India. Minorities in Bangladesh are Bangladesh’s issue. Just like how India treats its minorities is India’s concern.’

He said, ‘In such a situation, I believe that the policy of non-interference should be followed. We are looking into the issues of minorities. They are citizens of Bangladesh. They have the same rights as I have. The government will ensure that they have the rights.’ He said, ‘Certainly Bangladesh will decide what kind of relationship it wants to have with India. Similarly, India will also have to decide what kind of relationship it wants with Bangladesh.’ He said, ‘This is a matter of both the parties and there is no harm in saying so. I think our stand is clear in this matter. We want a good relationship with India based on respect and shared interests.’

Tauheed said about the statements, ‘When people here are making such comments, there are people there too who are doing such things.’ He said, ‘One of their Chief Ministers even suggested that if possible, the UN Peace Keeping Force should be sent to Bangladesh. One of their Union Ministers keeps making anti-Bangladesh statements. This is fine. We believe that such things will continue, but we still want good relations.’

Raised the issue of Sheikh Hasina

He said, ‘It is better to work towards strengthening our relationship rather than focusing on what some people are saying here and there.’ He said, ‘To improve relations, we also have to keep in mind that statements made by our former Prime Minister, who is enjoying Indian hospitality, can also cause harm.’ Tauheed said, ‘They are spoiling the relationship. It is our responsibility to deal with any kind of instability or issues in our country. But it is clear that their statements are increasing tension. Everyone knows this.’
