Big decision of the court in Ankita Bhandari murder case, life imprisonment to all three accused

New Delhi: The court’s decision has come out in the nearly 3-year-old Ankita Bhandari murder case in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand. The court has convicted all three accused. Ankita Bhandari’s body was recovered from the canal. Now in this much-discussed murder case, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge of Kotdwar has pronounced the verdict today. The court has sentenced all three accused to life imprisonment.

In the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand, three accused Pulkit Arya, Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta have been found guilty in the Ankita murder case. The court has sentenced all three accused to life imprisonment. In the hearing that lasted for about two years and eight months, 47 witnesses gave statements in the court. Apart from this, the SIT had made 97 witnesses in the entire case, out of which only 47 important witnesses were produced in the court.

In view of this high profile case, heavy police force has been deployed in the area around the court. Along with this, a gathering of people is also seen in the court premises and surrounding areas. This is the reason why tight security arrangements have been made in the area. On the other hand, if we talk about Ankita’s family, they were demanding death penalty for all the accused.

19-year-old Ankita Bhandari, who worked as a receptionist at Vanantra Resort in Ganga Bhogpur area of ​​​​Pauri district near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, was murdered in September 2022. Ankita’s body was recovered from the Cheela canal a week after the incident. In this case, the police had arrested the resort owner Pulkit Arya and his two employees Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta. The investigation revealed that the accused had pushed Ankita into the Cheela canal and killed her.

The reason behind Ankit’s murder was said to be the refusal to provide extra service to VIPs at the resort. After this incident, there was a huge uproar in Uttarakhand. After the uproar, the Uttarakhand government formed a special investigation team under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General P Renuka Devi for investigation.

After Ankita’s murder, the accused were sent to jail within 24 hours and are still behind bars. SIT was formed to investigate the Ankita Bhandari murder case. Apart from this, a case was also registered against the accused under the Gangster Act. Ankita Bhandari’s family was given financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh by the Dhami government.

A 500-page charge sheet was filed in the entire case. The government lawyer was changed 3 times on the demand of Ankita’s family. Along with this, Ankita’s brother and her father were given government jobs. Due to the strict advocacy done by the government lawyer in the court, the bail application given by the accused was rejected every time.
