
Patna. ED raids are going on at 19 locations of Alok Kumar Mehta, a senior leader of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), former minister and close to Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav. The Enforcement Directorate team has reached Bihar, West Bengal, UP and Delhi early on Friday morning and is looking for evidence of scam money in Vaishali Urban Development Cooperative Bank. Raids are going on at 9 locations in Patna and Hajipur, 5 in Kolkata, 4 in Varanasi and 1 in Delhi. Action is also going on at his government and private residence in Patna.
This action is being taken in the scam of Rs 85 crore in Vaishali Urban Development Cooperative Bank. After the RBI report, 3 FIRs were registered in Hajipur. Apart from Patna, cold storage and warehouse near Mahua in Vaishali district are also being raided. ED team has also reached Mirzanagar village of Mahua.
On Friday morning, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team reached the RJD MLA’s residence in Patna. The search process is going on for the last 4 hours. Heavy police force is also deployed during this time. Alok Mehta is counted among Lalu Yadav’s close associates. Alok Mehta was the Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms Department during the Mahagathbandhan government in the state. Earlier he has also been the Cooperative Minister. Alok Mehta is an MLA from Ujiarpur seat of Samastipur. Earlier he has also been a Lok Sabha MP. In this Lok Sabha election, he lost from Ujiarpur seat to BJP leader Nityanand Rai who is the Union Minister of State for Home.
Regarding the ED raid on Alok Mehta, state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United (JDU) spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar taunted that it is the effect of Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav’s company that ED has tightened its grip on the former RJD minister and raids are going on at 19 locations.
