New Delhi. Next week will see significant activity regarding government formation in Bihar. Following the results of the assembly elections, the process of forming a new government has reached its final stages. The term of the current assembly expires on November 22nd. This means the 18th assembly is scheduled to be formed on or before November 22nd. Keeping this deadline in mind, the NDA alliance and JDU have intensified their political preparations.
Meanwhile, JDU leaders Lallan Singh and Sanjay Jha arrived in Delhi to discuss matters with the NDA leadership and held meetings with Home Minister Amit Shah. Meanwhile, a series of meetings are underway in Patna. Chirag Paswan and Nityanand Rai are also reportedly scheduled to meet in Patna.
According to sources, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will meet Governor Arif Mohammad Khan next week and submit his resignation. This formal resignation is considered part of the process of forming a new assembly and forming a new government. During this meeting, Nitish Kumar will also discuss with the Governor the possible date for the swearing-in ceremony.
Swearing-in date will be decided according to PM Modi’s schedule
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schedule will play a key role in determining the swearing-in date. The Prime Minister has clearly indicated that he will be present at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Bihar government. Therefore, the entire program is being prepared in accordance with the PM’s schedule.
Nitish Kumar may become the Chief Minister of Bihar
Following Nitish Kumar’s resignation, all NDA allies will hold meetings of their respective legislative parties. In these meetings, the legislative party leader will be elected and formal letters of support within the alliance will be prepared. Following this, a joint meeting of the NDA legislative party will be held at the Chief Minister’s residence. It is almost certain that Nitish Kumar will be re-elected as the NDA legislative party leader at this meeting.
…then Nitish Kumar will take oath for the 10th time
Once the entire process is completed, Nitish Kumar may be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 10th time. This will mark another historic milestone in his political career. Both the JDU and the BJP are preparing for a grand event.
With the formation of the new government, discussions are expected to intensify next week regarding the distribution of portfolios within the coalition and new policy priorities. Bihar politics is poised to undergo another period of intense turmoil in the coming days.
