Congress Leader Questioned for Sharing Photo of Kerala CM Vijayan with Sabarimala Gold Case Accused

Desk: Congress leader N Subramanian was questioned by police on Monday in connection with allegedly sharing a picture on social media showing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan with Unnikrishnan Potty, an accused in the Sabarimala gold case. Earlier, on Saturday, police faced controversy after Subramanian, a member of the Congress state unit’s political affairs committee, was taken into custody. Following protests, he was released after being issued a notice to appear for questioning.

Speaking to reporters, Subramanian said that he and the person who handles his social media accounts were questioned for over an hour this morning at the police station by the Chevayoor police. He reiterated that he had not posted any AI-generated picture of the Chief Minister and Unnikrishnan Potty. According to him, the picture he shared was taken from a video of the Chief Minister that is available with the state government’s Public Relations Department.

“They should release the video. Otherwise, I will file an application under the RTI Act with the PRD to obtain it,” he said. Subramanian claimed that the same picture he shared is still present on other people’s social media accounts and no case has been registered against them. “The state government should not think that it can cover up the Sabarimala gold theft case with such actions,” he alleged.
