Katni: Madhya Pradesh has once again been shaken by a shameful incident of inhumanity and caste-based oppression. In the village of Matwara, under the Slimanabad police station area of Katni district, a Dalit youth protesting against illegal mining was subjected to brutality that shamed humanity. It is alleged that the miscreants not only beat the youth to death but also crossed all limits of humanity by urinating on his face.
The victim, Rajkumar Chaudhary (36), stated in an application to the Superintendent of Police, Katni, that the incident occurred on the evening of October 13, 2025. Rajkumar had protested against the illegal excavation of government land on the Ramgarha hill near his farm. Ram Bihari Haldkar, engaged in the excavation work, hurled casteist abuses at him and threatened to kill him.
According to the complainant, Rajkumar, while returning home with his mother, Munni Bai Chaudhary, the village head, Ramanuj Pandey, his son, Pawan Pandey, his nephew, Satish Pandey, and their companions blocked their way near the Muktidham (religious shrine) near the village. They all attacked Rajkumar with kicks, punches, and iron rods. It is alleged that during the beating, the headman’s son, Pawan Pandey, crossed all limits of brutality by urinating in his face. Munni Bai’s mother, who tried to intervene, was also dragged by her hair and subjected to casteist slurs. The accused threatened to kill and bury her if she reported the incident.
Severely injured, Rajkumar was admitted to the Katni District Hospital, where he received treatment for three days. Due to the threats and political influence of the intruders, they were unable to file a report at the Sleemanabad police station. After receiving treatment, the victim, along with his mother, went directly to the Katni Superintendent of Police’s office and appealed for justice.
Rajkumar said that the accused are not allowing him to enter the village and are threatening to kill him. He has demanded strict action under the SC/ST Act. Additional Superintendent of Police Santosh Deharia stated that the investigation into the matter is ongoing. According to him, the police have registered an FIR and are investigating all aspects. He has assured the victim of justice.
