
Lucknow: A shocking case has come to light in a major action against fake medicines in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. During the raid, a drug dealer offered a bribe of Rs 1 crore to the department officials. As soon as the information was received, the department immediately informed the police and the Income Tax Department. The bag full of money was seized and the dealer was taken into custody.
The drug department and STF team raided Bansal Medical Agency and Heman Medical Store located in Gogia Market on Friday evening. The action was taken on the complaint of well-known companies that fake medicines were being sold in their brand name.
Drugs worth about Rs 2.5 crore have been recovered so far in the investigation, while their bills were found to be only Rs 10 lakh. In this action that continued till late night, the premises of Sanjay Bansal, director of Bansal Medical Agency and Narendra, owner of Heman Medical Store, were searched. The team seized medicines of half a dozen well-known companies including 2.97 lakh tablets. Apart from this, 14 samples have been collected for investigation.
Bribe offered
During the raid, it is alleged that drug dealer Himanshu Agarwal tried to give Rs 1 crore in cash to the departmental officers to settle the matter. The officers took immediate action and seized the bag and took the accused into custody. The counting of the money kept in the bag is going on.
Teams engaged in investigation
The entire operation was conducted under the leadership of Additional SP STF Rakesh Yadav. STF Agra unit included Inspector Yatindra Sharma, Head Constable Ankit Gupta, Prashant Chauhan, Amit Singh, Dinesh Gautam and Constable Harpal. At present, police and department teams are engaged in investigation.
