Explosion in tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir, many army personnel injured

New Delhi: A landmine has exploded in Nowshera, Jammu and Kashmir. According to the information, there has been an explosion in Makdi area of ​​Bhawani sector here, in which 6 army personnel have been injured. They have been admitted to Army Hospital in Rajouri for treatment. Earlier on December 9, 2024, there was an explosion in Poonch, Jammu, in which a soldier was martyred. An army spokesperson said that Havildar V. Subbaiah Varikunta of 25 National Rifles died after a landmine explosion during patrolling in Thanedar Tekri, Poonch.

The army said that deep condolences to the bereaved family. We stand firmly with them in this hour of grief. Meanwhile, an IED was defused in Palhallan area of ​​Pattan in Baramulla district. Officials said security forces detected the IED in Palhallan in Pattan. A bomb disposal squad (BDS) was rushed to the spot and the IED was defused.

In October 2024, a mine blast had also taken place in Kupwara in which two Army personnel were injured. Officials said the blast took place at around 3 am on the Line of Control (LoC) in Trehgam when soldiers were patrolling the area. Two Army personnel were injured in the blast, officials said.
