New Delhi: The country’s largest medical entrance examination, NEET, is no longer merely a controversy surrounding a paper leak; the agencies responsible for it are now also coming under intense scrutiny. Students are furious following the cancellation of the examination. Students are asking: “Do we work this hard just for the paper to leak? We stay up all night studying, all year round.”
Expressing their anger, students questioned the NTA (National Testing Agency), asking: “Is security meant only for us, and not for the agency itself?” Students stated, “We were made to untie our hair, had the buttons cut off our trousers, and were made to wait in long queues for hours—yet the paper still leaked.” All this occurred while the NTA was boasting of stringent security measures.
A Similar Incident Occurred in 2024
Students are now raising the point that a similar incident occurred in 2024, and there has been absolutely no improvement or change this year. Children work incredibly hard throughout the year; it is unjust that they should have to endure such treatment.
Students Demand Online Examinations
Consequently, students are now demanding that, in the future, the NEET examination be conducted in an online mode to ensure that the futures of lakhs of students are not repeatedly jeopardized.
Loss of Mental Peace
Students are questioning the NTA: “Ultimately, what is our fault in this paper leak?” They argue that the entire burden of security seems to be placed solely upon the students. Many students have even gone so far as to say that the repeated cancellation of the examination feels like a form of trauma—as if one’s entire sense of mental peace has been shattered.
Fear Takes Root
Speaking to students preparing for NEET in Kota revealed that the recurring paper leaks have instilled a deep sense of fear in them. “We work hard, yet we live in constant dread that after leaving the exam hall, we might discover that the paper has leaked once again.” A student from Bhopal remarked, “We feel utterly devastated. We were overjoyed upon realizing how easy the paper was, but now, all that happiness has been completely washed away.” This reveals gross negligence on the part of the agency.
