Google to invest $15 billion in India, CEO Sundar Pichai reveals, PM Modi expresses happiness

New Delhi: Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed on Tuesday that he spoke with PM Modi. According to Pichai, he spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and shared the American tech giant’s plans for its first AI hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

In fact, Google also announced a massive data center and artificial intelligence (AI) base in Visakhapatnam. This center will be Google’s largest AI hub outside the US and will represent an investment of $15 billion in India over the next five years. The Indian-born CEO called the move historic. He said the hub will bring together gigawatt-scale computing capacity, a new international subsea gateway, and large-scale energy infrastructure.


Soon after the agreement was signed between Google and the Andhra Pradesh government, Google CEO Sundar Pichai posted on Instagram. In this post, he wrote that through this, we will bring our industry-leading technology to enterprises and users in India, accelerate AI innovation, and drive growth across the country. According to a report, Google has partnered with the Adani Group for an AI data center campus. This is Google’s largest investment in the country to date.

The company stated in an official statement that this is in line with the Indian government’s ‘Developed India 2047’ vision, which will accelerate the expansion of AI-powered services. The statement further stated that this initiative will create enormous economic and social opportunities for both India and the US, and pave the way for a generational shift in AI capabilities.

PM Modi Expresses Happiness
Prime Minister Modi wrote in the post, “I am delighted at the launch of the Google AI Hub in Visakhapatnam, the dynamic city of Andhra Pradesh. This multi-faceted investment, which includes gigawatt-scale data center infrastructure, is in line with our vision of building a developed India. It will be a powerful force in the democratization of technology.” This will ensure AI for all, provide our citizens with cutting-edge tools, boost our digital economy and establish India as a global technology leader!
