New Delhi. Allahabad High Court judge Shekhar Yadav on Sunday said in a program of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) that there is no hesitation in saying that this country will work according to the wishes of the majority. The judge was speaking at a program on UCC organized by VHP in Prayagraj. The judge said, “I have no hesitation in saying that this is Hindustan, this country will work according to the wishes of the majority living in Hindustan. This is the law. You cannot say that you are saying this as a High Court judge. The law works according to the majority. Look at it in the context of family or society. Only that will be accepted which will lead to the welfare and happiness of the majority.”
According to a report by ‘Live Law’, Justice Shekhar Yadav also said that no one can insult a woman who has been recognized as a goddess in our scriptures and Vedas. You cannot demand the right to have four wives, to do halala or to do triple talaq. It will not work that you say that we have the right to say triple talaq, but not to give maintenance to women. This right will not work. Uniform Civil Code is not something that only VHP, RSS or Hinduism advocates, but the country’s Supreme Court also talks about it. I say that this country will definitely bring a law and will bring it very soon.
Addressing the program, the sitting judge of the High Court said, “My country is where cow, Gita and Ganga are culture, where every child is Ram and every child is idol of Goddess Durga.” He also said that a person who takes a dip in the river Ganga or applies sandalwood is not the only definition of being a Hindu. And anyone who considers this land as his mother, who is ready to lay down his life for the country in times of crisis, whatever be their religious practices or beliefs, whether they follow the Quran or the Bible, is a Hindu.
