
Kurnool: A tragic road accident occurred early Friday morning in the Chinnatekur area of the Kallur division in Kurnool district. A Kaveri Travels bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru suddenly caught fire. The accident was so devastating that the entire bus was reduced to ashes within minutes. Twenty people have died so far, with several others suffering severe burns.
According to preliminary information, the bus collided with a two-wheeler on the highway, leading to the fire. Dozens of passengers were on board at the time of the accident. According to official sources, several people died in the accident, while about a dozen passengers managed to escape through the emergency exit. All the injured have been admitted to the Kurnool Government Hospital for treatment, where they are undergoing treatment.
Local residents and police joined forces to begin rescue and relief operations. Fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene and began dousing the fire. The accident caused a long traffic jam on the highway. Police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation, attempting to determine the total number of passengers on board.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu Expresses Condolences
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his condolences in a post on the social media platform X. He wrote, “I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the bus accident in the Chinnatekur area. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this tragic accident. The government will provide all possible assistance to the injured and the families of the victims.”
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP supremo Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy also expressed his grief over the road accident. Posting on X, he wrote, “The news of the bus accident near Chinnatekur in Kurnool district is very sad.” My deepest condolences go out to the families who lost their loved ones in this accident. I appeal to the government to provide full assistance and medical care to the injured and affected.
The Kurnool SP stated that the accident occurred around 3:30 am. There were 40 passengers on board the bus at the time of the accident. 18 passengers are safe. More than 20 people have died. Photos and videos from the scene have spread rapidly on social media, creating an atmosphere of grief and concern across the state. This accident has once again raised serious questions about safety standards in long-distance private bus operations.
