New Delhi: The friendship between India and Russia is well known. Whenever America has tried to show its eyes to India, Russia has stood firmly with its friendly country. India’s relations with Ukraine, which is fighting a war with Russia, are also balanced. The reason is clear, India has been saying from the beginning that it is neutral. Russian President Putin will visit India at the end of this year. At the same time, the Ukrainian Ambassador to India has also hinted at Zelensky’s visit to India.
PM Modi invited Zelensky to visit India
A new picture of India-Ukraine relations was seen on Saturday. Delhi’s Qutub Minar was illuminated with the colors of the Ukrainian flag on the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day. Ukrainian Ambassador Oleksandr Polishchuk has said that work is progressing rapidly towards a future strategic partnership between India and Ukraine.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to visit India and both sides are currently working on fixing the date. The ambassador said that President Zelensky’s visit to India would be a major achievement for the relations between the two countries.
Putin will also visit at the end of the year
There is also a lot of discussion about the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India. A few weeks ago, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval confirmed that Putin would visit India later this year. Russian news agency Interfax has revised its report and said that Putin’s visit to India will take place at the end of 2025.
Putin’s visit is going to take place at a time when US President Donald Trump has expressed displeasure over buying oil from Russia and has increased the tariff on India by 50%. India has described Trump’s action as ‘irrational’. The Ministry of External Affairs said that this decision is unfair, unnecessary and irrational.
‘India will not back down’
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar made it clear on Saturday that India will not back down from its conditions in the talks on a possible trade agreement between India and the US. He bluntly said that the government will stand at any cost to protect the interests of farmers and small producers and any kind of agreement will not be at their disadvantage.
Jaishankar said in a program that at present there are three major challenges facing India-US relations – the issue of trade and tariff, purchase of crude oil from Russia and Washington’s interference in matters related to Pakistan.
‘Never seen such a President before’
He said that President Donald Trump’s foreign policy style is completely different from that of earlier US presidents. According to Jaishankar, ‘The world has never seen any US President before, who runs foreign policy so openly and publicly. This change is not limited to India only, but the whole world is facing it.’
