Is Jammu and Kashmir going to get full statehood status? Political stir intensifies from Delhi to Srinagar …

August 05, 2025

New Delhi. On 5 August 2019, freedom was obtained from Article 370, on 5 August 2020, the foundation stone of Ram Mandir was laid in Ayodhya. After this, everyone’s eyes started to be on 5 August every year. Everyone started thinking what will the Prime Minister do on 5 August? Today is 5 August, so questions are being raised whether the government can take a big decision today? If yes, then which one? If not, then what big decision can be taken in the monsoon session which is to continue till after Independence Day?

Is history going to be repeated after 6 years? Are Modi-Shah going to take a big step again regarding Jammu and Kashmir? Is big news going to come out from the stir of meetings in Delhi? Actually, 5 August 2019 is the date when Modi government took the decision to give freedom to Jammu and Kashmir from Article 370 and now on 5 August 2025, can Modi government take some big decision in the Parliament again? What is going to happen? Is something big going to happen? Will something big happen again in the month of August like the old history? The reason for all these questions comes from 2 meetings? The meeting which looks normal, but the timing is such that discussions have started across the country from Delhi whether something is going to happen for which first the Prime Minister meets the President and then after some time the Home Minister also reached to meet President Draupadi Murmu.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached to meet the President on Sunday, there was no discussion anywhere, because this was PM Modi’s first meeting with the President after his recent visit to Britain and Maldives, but within 4 hours of PM Modi’s meeting with the President, Home Minister Amit Shah reached Rashtrapati Bhavan and then discussions started as to what is it that within 4 hours the Prime Minister and Home Minister have gone and talked to the President.

These two meetings are not being considered normal. The reason is clear, usually when the Prime Minister and Home Minister meet the President, it is either a formal meeting or they go together on some special occasion. The meeting of these two leaders with the President on the same day and with a difference of a few hours promotes suspense, now the question is what is the suspense?

High-level meeting in Parliament House
Meanwhile, a high-level meeting was held in Parliament House on Monday, in which National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka met Amit Shah. It is reported that internal security matters were assessed in this meeting.

Is something big going to happen?
Amidst the suspense arising from the meeting, it is being speculated that something big is going to happen regarding Jammu and Kashmir. The Prime Minister and the Home Minister have been talking about giving full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir when the time comes. In such a situation, it is being speculated that that time has come now. There is a discussion that Jammu and Kashmir can soon be given full statehood status. Actually, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister have been constantly repeating that when the time comes, Jammu and Kashmir will be given full statehood status. And behind Prime Minister Modi’s meeting with the President on Sunday, and then Amit Shah’s meeting with the President within a few hours, the discussion is that now Jammu and Kashmir can be given full statehood status.

Connection with Omar Abdullah’s Gujarat visit
Why is it being discussed today that Jammu Kashmir is expected to be given the status of a full state, then its indication comes from Omar Abdullah’s Gujarat visit on 31 July. Actually, on 31 July, Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah arrives on a Gujarat tour. In Gujarat too, directly to the Statue of Unity. Omar Abdullah is seen clicking and getting photographs clicked here. On reaching here, Omar Abdullah said that I had no idea that the Statue of Unity would be so grand. You understand its importance as soon as you see it. And for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whom we all know as the Iron Man of India, it is truly a great symbol of the new India.

After the Gujarat visit of Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, a murmur started. Omar met the tour operators of Gujarat and invited them to promote tourism in Jammu Kashmir. Then Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Omar Abdullah’s initiative. After this, the opposition in Jammu Kashmir started raising questions whether Omar Abdullah is ready for the decision to be taken by the central government regarding the state?

Premature break on Amarnath Yatra
The second indication of the possibility of Jammu and Kashmir being given full statehood status soon is also being expressed in the premature ending of the Amarnath Yatra. The Amarnath Yatra has been stopped before the scheduled time this year, this time the Amarnath Yatra was to run till August 9, but citing bad weather, it was stopped on August 3 itself. The same thing happened in 2019 as well. When the Amarnath Yatra was stopped before time due to the fear of a terrorist incident and then the historic step was taken to abolish Article 370 on August 5. The third indication of the possibility of Jammu and Kashmir being given full statehood status soon is found in the meeting of Home Minister Amit Shah with the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir.
