Khamenei’s scathing attack on the US President: Trump is a dictator, will meet the same fate as Pahlavi…

January 10, 2026

New Delhi. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has strongly criticized the United States and President Donald Trump, saying that history shows that when arrogant rulers reach the pinnacle of power, their downfall begins.

Khamenei posted on the social media platform X, comparing the US President to rulers he described as symbols of tyranny and arrogance. He said that the American president who arrogantly makes decisions about the whole world should know that tyrannical and arrogant rulers like Mohammad Reza Pahlavi also met their downfall at the height of their arrogance. He will meet the same fate.

  • Khamenei’s remarks come at a time of widespread unrest in Iran and heightened tensions with the United States. The situation has been further inflamed by statements from US President Donald Trump in support of the Iranian protesters.

Addressing his supporters in Tehran, Khamenei accused Washington of blatant hypocrisy. Referring to US foreign policy, he said, “You can see how they have surrounded a country in Latin America and what they are doing there. They have no shame and openly say that it’s all for oil. For oil.”

The Iranian Supreme Leader also strongly condemned the overnight vandalism in Tehran and other cities, blaming the protesters. He said that some people are damaging their own country’s property to please the American president and gain his approval. “Some people bent on destruction came and destroyed their own country’s buildings so that the American president would be pleased. If he is so capable, he should first take care of his own country.” He also adopted a defiant tone regarding Iran’s military power, stating that the Iranian nation is far better equipped and armed today than before the revolution. He added that their spiritual strength and conventional weapons are incomparable to those of the past. He asserted that American assessments of Iran are still as flawed today as they were before.

Amidst this turmoil, Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, has also resurfaced in the news. Reza Pahlavi, whose father was overthrown in the 1979 Islamic Revolution, has appealed to Iranians to take to the streets, and slogans in support of the former monarchy have been heard during the recent protests.
