New Delhi: A tragic incident took place on Wednesday morning in the famous Safari World Zoo in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. Here lions attacked a zoo employee and killed him. This entire incident happened when dozens of tourists were passing through the drive-through zone in their vehicles.
According to the Bangkok Post, 58-year-old Jian Rangkharasami had come out of the vehicle and left the door open. Then a lion attacked him from behind and within no time many lions attacked him. During this time, tourists sitting in cars nearby kept watching this horrific scene.
Jian was immediately taken to the hospital after the incident but his life could not be saved. According to the police, the lions were being fed at the time of the accident and it is possible that one of them was in a bad mood, which caused the attack.
After this incident, the drive-in zone of Safari World Zoo has been closed with immediate effect. Officials have said that it will not be reopened until the safety of tourists is ensured. The investigation also revealed that Safari World Zoo was officially licensed to keep 45 lions, of which 13 have already died. Now all licenses and records will be reviewed.
The deceased’s wife said that her husband was the main support of the family and had been taking care of the lions and leopards for the last 20 years. During this time he had always been careful and such an accident had never happened before.
Safari World PLC has expressed deep condolences over the incident and assured full support to the family. The company said that such an accident has never happened in their company for four decades and they give top priority to the safety of visitors and employees. Now the safety protocol will be reviewed again so that such an accident does not happen in future.
