
Mumbai. The Maharashtra government has made it compulsory for all officials in government and semi-government offices to speak only in Marathi. According to the notification issued by the State Planning Department, all officials should use the Marathi language while interacting with visitors, except visitors from outside India and non-Marathi speaking states.
Action will be taken for not following the policy
The notification issued by the state government states that in addition to the Roman alphabet, the PC keyboard in all offices should also have the Marathi Devanagari alphabet. If the guilty officials fail to follow the new rules, they will face disciplinary action.
