
New Delhi: Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Prime Minister Narendra Modi met. The Prime Minister of Fiji paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. During this, Rabuka was also presented with books and a statue of Mahatma Gandhi. PM Modi said that ‘We have taken many important decisions in today’s meeting. We have decided that a 100-bed super specialty hospital will be built in Suva, Fiji.’ The PM said that ‘more than 60,000 indentured brothers and sisters who went from India in the 19th century have contributed to the prosperity of Fiji with hard work.’
PM Modi said that ‘Dialysis units and sea ambulances will be sent to Fiji. Along with this, Jan Aushadhi centers will be opened there, so that cheap and high quality medicines can be delivered to every home. Apart from this, Jaipur Foot Camp will also be set up in Suva. A 100-bed super specialty hospital will be built in Suva, Fiji. The PM said that ‘India and Fiji have a deep bond of affinity. More than 60,000 indentured brothers and sisters who went from India in the 19th century have contributed to the development of Fiji.’
The Prime Minister further said that ‘India and Fiji are countries that support a free, inclusive, open, secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.’ He said that the Prime Minister’s ‘Oceans of Peace’ is a very good idea. India and Fiji may be oceans away, but our aspirations are in the same boat. The PM said that ‘We believe that no voice should be ignored. Also, no country should be left behind.’
