Mohan Bhagwat talked about 75 years and stepping aside, opposition said – this is a message to PM Narendra Modi

Nagpur: Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat has said that after completing 75 years of age, people should also give others a chance to work. During a program in Nagpur, the Sangh chief said that when any leader is draped with a shawl on completion of 75 years, it has a meaning. This means that he has grown old. You should give others a chance.

The RSS chief was participating in a program organized on July 9 for the release of a book written on the late Moropant Pingle, the instigator of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

The name of this book is Moropant Pingle: The Architect of Hindu Resurgence. After releasing it, Bhagwat recalled the senior RSS leader’s humility, foresight and unique ability to explain complex ideas in simple language.

Bhagwat said, “Moropant was the epitome of complete selflessness. He did many works thinking that these works would help in nation building.”

During the book release, Mohan Bhagwat said that Moropant Pingle ji did a lot of work. He had grown old, his body had also become a little weak. We told him – now hand over all the work to others.

The Sangh chief said that Pingle came to Nagpur in his last days and started living here. His thoughts were always going on, he had deep knowledge of every subject. We also often went to him for advice. Whatever work seemed worth doing, he would put it to work.

Recalling an incident with Moropant Pingle, Mohan Bhagwat said, “Once we told him – now enough, take rest. Even then he never said that I have done a lot of work. If someone praised his work, he would laugh it off jokingly.”

He completed 75 years of his age, we all were in a meeting in Vrindavan. Workers from all over the country were present. In a session, Sheshadri ji said, “Today our Moropant ji has completed 75 years. And he was given a shawl.”

After that he was asked to say something. So he said, “My problem is that when I stand up, people laugh. Even if I don’t say anything, people laugh at me because they feel that people do not take me seriously. When I die, then people will first throw stones at me to see if I am really dead or not.”

Then Moropant Pingle ji said, “I know the meaning of wearing a shawl at the age of 75. It means that now you are old, you should step aside. Now let others work.”

Congress has taken a dig at this statement of Mohan Bhagwat. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, ‘As soon as PM Modi returned, he was reminded by the Sarsanghchalak that he will turn 75 on 17 September 2025. But the Prime Minister can also tell the Sarsanghchalak that he too will turn 75 on 11 September 2025! One arrow, two birds with one stone!’

Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut also commented on this. Sanjay Raut said, “PM Modi had forced big leaders like Advani, Murli Manohar, Jaswant Singh to retire. Now let’s see whether Modi himself will follow this or not.”
