‘Mojtaba Khamenei 90% Finished’ – Trump’s Sensational Claim

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s top military leadership has been virtually eliminated. He stated that Mojtaba Khamenei—son of Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei—is also “90 percent finished.” This statement comes amidst ongoing tensions between the US and Iran.

President Trump also announced that the US would reimpose a blockade on Iran and charge ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz for safe passage. Iran has reacted sharply to this.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said that recent attacks by the US and Israel have severely crippled Iran’s military strength. He claimed that Iran no longer possesses a navy or an air force, and its air defense system has been destroyed.

President Trump asserted that Iran’s key leaders have been killed and that Khamenei is also gone. It is worth noting that Ali Khamenei was killed during the initial wave of US and Israeli attacks in late February.

President Trump further stated that Mojtaba Khamenei—who was considered his father’s successor—is now virtually finished. Reports suggest that Mojtaba was injured in an airstrike, which prevented him from attending his father’s funeral.

A fresh round of attacks between the US and Iran last weekend further escalated tensions. Trump declared that the US would act as the “protector” of the Strait of Hormuz. He wrote that the waterway remains open but that Iranian ships would be intercepted. He also proposed asking other nations to contribute 20 percent of the cost for this security.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed strong objection to this proposal. He stated that Iran has always been—and will continue to be—the true protector of the Strait of Hormuz. He described the demand for a 20 percent contribution as excessive.
