People admitted to a hospital in Chembur, which is affected by waterlogging due to continuous rains in Mumbai, also faced difficulties. Many people were seen carrying their sick relatives on their backs to reach Maa General Hospital run by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Many flights affected
Many flights were also affected due to bad weather in Mumbai. Many roads leading to the airport are still waterlogged, slowing down traffic. According to IndiGo, both arrival and departure are getting delayed due to rain. IndiGo has advised people traveling to leave a little early and keep track of their flight status through the app or website.

Schools and colleges closed
Heavy rains in Mumbai on Monday led to waterlogging in many areas, causing traffic jams. The BMC has declared a holiday in all schools and colleges operating in the second shift (after 12 noon) in the city. Later, the municipal body declared a holiday in all schools and colleges in the metropolis today i.e. Tuesday amid forecast of heavy rains.
Officials said that heavy rains in the hilly area of Kalyan in Thane district caused a landslide, damaging four houses, although no one was injured. Authorities have declared a holiday in schools and colleges on Tuesday after the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for August 18-19 in Thane and Palghar districts.
In Mumbai, the Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains from August 17-21 and instructions have been given to remain fully alert. More than 200 people were trapped in floods due to continuous rains in Nanded district, due to which the authorities had to call the army for rescue and relief operations.
