New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday attended the ongoing Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit in France. Where, he also informed that the next AI Summit will be held in India. In the plenary session of the AI Action Summit in Paris, the PM said that I welcome the decision to set up an AI Foundation in the Council for Sustainable AI. India will be happy to host the next AI summit. India is ready to share its experience and expertise to ensure that the future of AI is good for all.
It is being said that this summit can be held in India anytime between November 2025 and January 2026. However, after the announcement of the PM, India will be the fourth country in the world to host a global summit focused on AI security after the United Kingdom, South Korea and France. The AI Summit to be held in India will be very important from the country’s perspective.
The first AI Security Summit was held in 2023 at Bletchley Park in the UK. This resulted in the Bletchley Declaration where India, China, the US, the UK and the EU along with 24 other countries acknowledged that some of the risks associated with AI could be disastrous. These countries resolved to work together in an inclusive manner to ensure human-centered, reliable and safe AI. After this, the second AI summit was held in Seoul in May 2024. The third AI summit has now been held in Paris, the capital of France.
At the Paris AI Summit, PM Modi called for collective global efforts to establish SOP for this. He said that this is necessary to maintain shared values and deal with risks. India is also ahead in adopting AI and preparing a technology-legal basis for data privacy. India has successfully created digital public infrastructure for its more than 1.4 billion people at a very low cost. We need global standards to deal with AI-related issues. Artificial intelligence (AI) is developing at a very fast pace. It is being deployed at an even faster pace.
On the other hand, US Vice President JD Vance, who attended the summit, warned world leaders and technology industry officials that excessive regulation in the AI industry would destroy this rapidly growing industry. Vance said that the Trump administration would ensure that AI systems developed in the US are free from ideological bias and the US would never restrict the right to freedom of expression of its citizens.
