New Delhi. Pakistan’s important military establishment Rahim Yar Khan airbase is no longer able to function. The retaliatory attack by India has destroyed the runway of this airport. Now Pakistan has declared this airbase non-operational for a week.

Pakistan has issued NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) in this regard. This notice has been issued by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority on Saturday evening. This NOTAM has come into effect from 4 pm on 10 May as per Pakistani time and will remain effective till 5 pm on 18 May. That is, Rahim Yar Khan Noor Base will not work for this time.

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority said that the reason for the closure is work in progress. But Pakistan has cleverly not disclosed what work it is doing at its military airport at such a crucial time like the war. The NOTAM states that this airbase will not be operational for flight for the time being.

The temporary closure of this important airbase in the southern part of Pakistan’s Punjab province and the time of closure and its timing confirm the strong attack by India on this airbase.

Rahim Yar Khan Airbase, officially known as Sheikh Zayed International Airport, is located near the city of Rahim Yar Khan in Pakistan’s Punjab province. This airport is about 4.6 kilometers south-west of the city.

Effect of attack on Rahim Yar Khan Airbase
In a briefing related to Operation Sindoor on Sunday evening, the Indian Air Force confirmed from satellite images that India had struck the runway of Rahim Yar Khan Air Force Base. This airport was destroyed in this attack.

According to the Indian Express, according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the use of the code ‘WIP’ in NOTAM indicates work in progress. According to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), ‘WIP’ refers to any work being done on the airport surface. Given that the NOTAM specifically mentions the runway at the airbase, it indicates that work in progress is going on on the runway itself.

Rahim Yar Khan Airbase also houses the Sheikh Zayed International Airport. According to airport data available on Flightradar24, its only runway – Runway 01/19 – has a bituminous surface and is 3,000 meters or 9,843 feet in length.

Although this airport is operated by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), it is also used by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for military purposes. Let us tell you that on May 10, in response to the Pakistani attack, India targeted several military airports of the neighboring country.

Rafiki, Murid, Chaklala, Sukkur, Rahim Khan Airbase, Chunian Airbase, Noor Khan Airbase, Sargodha Airbase were the main targets in India’s missile attack. Rahim Khan Airbase was severely damaged in India’s attack. And a big crater was formed on its runway. Now Pakistan is clearing these debris. And is repairing the crater.

The main runway of the airbase which is about 3,000 meters long, was completely destroyed. Satellite imagery and video footage show a big crater on the runway. According to the report, the air traffic control tower and two hangars were destroyed in India’s attacks. Radar units and other important infrastructure were also damaged, which has temporarily halted the operational capacity of the airbase.

Pakistan Army spokesman General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary claimed that India fired air-to-surface missiles from its fighter jets on these airbases.

India said on Sunday that 100 Pakistani terrorists have been killed during Operation Sindoor, launched to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack. While 40 to 50 Pakistani soldiers and officers have been killed.
