Srinagar: Amidst the prevailing peace on the Jammu and Kashmir border, Pakistan has once again demonstrated its cowardly nature. On the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, the Pakistani army suddenly violated the ceasefire by opening fire in the Keran sector of the Line of Control (LoC). This attack occurred while brave soldiers of the 6th Rashtriya Rifles (RR) were installing high-tech surveillance cameras to strengthen security along the LoC. The Indian Army responded to Pakistan’s provocation in kind.
According to security officials, the incident took place in the Keran Bala area. The Indian Army was installing modern surveillance equipment to eliminate ‘blind spots’ along the border. Pakistani soldiers fired two rounds from small arms, aiming to disrupt the work and intimidate the Indian soldiers. The Indian Army, assessing the situation, silenced the enemy with a single calibrated shot. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in the exchange of fire.
Search Operation in the Forest and High Alert
Immediately after the firing, the Indian Army launched a large-scale cordon and search operation (CASO) in the dense forest areas. The army suspects that the firing was not merely to prevent the installation of cameras but could be a ‘diversion’ to facilitate the infiltration of terrorists. Jammu and Kashmir has approximately 740 kilometers of LoC and 240 kilometers of international border (IB). While the LoC is guarded by the army, the BSF is deployed along the IB. In recent days, there has been an increase in drone activity and infiltration attempts from the Pakistani side. In view of this, the Indian Army has started laying a network of high-tech sensors and cameras along the border, which has caused panic in the Pakistani camp.
The coordination between the Army and the BSF at the border is playing a crucial role in preventing infiltration and smuggling. Meanwhile, in the hinterland, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces are continuously conducting operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers. This incident in the Keran sector demonstrates that the enemy across the border is completely rattled by the modernization of the Indian security apparatus.
