New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Draupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in the capital Delhi. This was the Prime Minister’s first meeting with the President after his recent visit to the United Kingdom and Maldives. After the Prime Minister’s meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also met President Murmu.

This meeting has taken place at a time when the process for the election of the Vice President has started. The Election Commission has announced the dates for the election of the Vice President on August 1. Voting for the election of the Vice President will be held on September 9.

On July 21, 2025, Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice President of India citing his health reasons. After the end of the first day of the monsoon session, he submitted his resignation to President Murmu.
