Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia and China strongly oppose discriminatory restrictions imposed in global trade. Putin stressed that such restrictions not only hinder the socio-economic development of BRICS countries, but also have a negative impact on the economy of the whole world. Putin openly praised Chinese President Xi Jinping and said, Jinping has great respect for the history of his country. He is a true leader. He is a person with strong will, who has strategic vision, global perspective and unwavering commitment to national interests. In this challenging period of international affairs, it is of extraordinary importance for China’s leadership to be in the hands of such a person.

Putin made this comment in an interview given to Xinhua News Agency before leaving for China tour. He will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China and China’s Victory Day celebrations in Beijing.

Putin said that within the BRICS framework, Russia and China are constantly working together and are putting forward proposals that increase the economic opportunities of member countries. He said that close cooperation between the two countries has brought positive changes in the functioning of major economic forums like G20 and APEC.

The Russian President also said that the organization will gain more momentum after the SCO summit. This will develop the ability to better face the current global challenges and threats and strengthen solidarity in the Eurasian region.

Putin also indicated that during his visit to China, he will discuss in detail new opportunities and initiatives for mutual cooperation between the two countries. These initiatives will benefit the people of both Russia and China. He also clarified that Russia and China are working towards reducing obstacles in mutual trade.

‘Will condemn those who distort history’
Putin said that he, along with the Chinese leadership, will pay tribute to the valor of our ancestors who protected the freedom and independence of both countries and secured the path of their sovereign development. He further said, Russia and China strongly condemn every attempt to distort the history of the Second World War.

Putin said, it is our duty to honor the memory of our countrymen who showed true patriotism and courage. Endured all the difficulties and defeated powerful and ruthless enemies. He thanked China that it still cherishes the memory of those Soviet soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the war.

The Russian President criticized Western countries and said that in some countries the results of the Second World War are being reviewed in reality. He alleged that historical truth is being suppressed so that the current political agenda can be achieved.

Putin reiterated that Russia and China completely condemn such attempts. He said, the results of that war are recorded in the UN Charter and other international documents. These results are irrevocable and cannot be reviewed.
