New Delhi. Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi had announced a new defense system of the country, Sudarshan Chakra, from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15. Under this, there will not only be protection from enemy air attacks but also a hitback will be done. Now there is news that Russia can partner in this project of India.
Senior Russian diplomat Roman Babushkin said that Russia hopes that Russian equipment will be included in the development and advancement of India’s Sudarshan Chakra Defense System. He said that we are moving forward with the understanding that when it comes to this defense system project, Russian equipment will be a part of it, that is, we can cooperate with it.
He expressed confidence in the strong partnership between India and Russia in the military and defense sector. He said that Russia is the preferred partner for India’s military platforms and hardware requirements, underlining the possibility of cooperation in projects like Sudarshan Chakra.
But during this, the funny thing happened that Roman Babushkin started this press conference in Hindi. He said that we will start. Shri Ganesh will do it. What did he say about US pressure on India?
Describing the continued US pressure on India to stop buying Russian oil as wrong, Babushkin said that such an approach and sanctions are harmful to global economic stability and energy security. This is a challenging situation for India. We trust our partnership with India and we are committed to resolving the challenges in energy relations between the two countries.
He said that due to Western tariffs and sanctions, a fluctuation of five percent in oil import prices is possible. In such a situation, he stressed that India-Russia energy cooperation will continue to grow. In fact, US Finance Minister Scott Bessant had said that if India continues to buy Russian crude oil, the Trump administration may increase secondary tariffs on India. Although the US has imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on India for energy relations with Russia, it has not taken any such action against China, the largest buyer of Russian crude oil.
