Six Injured, Including Four Indian Students, in Stabbing at Russian University

Moscow. At least six people, including four Indian students, were injured in a stabbing attack at a university dormitory in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia, on Saturday. The incident occurred at the dormitory of the State Medical University in Ufa.

According to preliminary information, a teenager entered the dormitory with a knife and attacked the students residing there. The Russian Interior Ministry stated that the attacker also stabbed two police officers while resisting arrest. The suspect also inflicted serious injuries upon himself.

Suspect Injures Himself While Resisting Arrest
According to Interior Ministry spokeswoman Major General Irina Volk, the suspect resisted arrest and became violent during the process. The attacker is reportedly 15 years old and has been admitted to a local children’s hospital in serious condition.

The Indian Embassy described the incident as unfortunate and confirmed that four Indian students were among the injured. The embassy said it is in contact with the local authorities, and officials from the Indian Consulate in Kazan have left for Ufa to provide necessary assistance to the injured students.

According to the Russian Federal Ministry of Health, four of the injured are receiving treatment, with one in serious condition and three in moderate condition. The Ufa administration has launched a high-level investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the Telegram channel ‘Baza’ claimed that the suspect was associated with a banned neo-Nazi organization.

Media reports, citing eyewitnesses, stated that there was blood everywhere at the scene, and the injured were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
