Status Report on Bhagirathpura Contaminated Water Case Submitted to High Court, Four Deaths Reported

Indore: The government submitted its status report to the High Court on Friday regarding the deaths caused by contaminated water in Indore. The report stated that only four deaths have occurred so far due to the contaminated water. Hearing the public interest litigation, the court scheduled the next hearing for January 6. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the court reviewed the report and indicated that a detailed response would be required at the next hearing.


Meanwhile, Ritesh Inani, president of the Bar Association, said that the High Court heard the petition today regarding the contaminated water incident that occurred in Bhagirathpura four days ago. The court had sought a status report from the government detailing the number of deaths and the number of people seriously ill and hospitalized. This report was presented to the court today, and the next hearing for arguments has been scheduled for January 6, 2026. The government’s status report claims only four deaths, but the actual number of deaths is estimated to be between 8 and 15. He added that several seriously ill patients are still hospitalized. Details regarding compensation checks have also not been provided.
