Sushila Karki can become Nepal’s interim PM, Gen-Z proposes

New Delhi: On the third day of violent protests in Nepal, the situation seems likely to come under control. A round of talks has started between the army and Gen-Z to normalize the situation. After hours of meetings, Gen-Z has chosen former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as its leader. It is expected that she will lead the interim government of Nepal. Karki has also agreed to this.

Sushila Karki has been the first woman Chief Justice of Nepal. Karki became the Chief Justice on 11 July 2016. On 30 April 2017, the Maoist Center and the Nepali Congress presented an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Karki in Parliament. At that time, the public had supported him a lot. Due to public pressure, the impeachment motion was withdrawn.

Sushila Karki has 7 siblings. She is the eldest of all. She has a house in Virat Nagar in Nepal. In 1972, Karki graduated with BA from Mahendra Morang Campus, Viratnagar. After this she came to India. Here in 1975, Karki completed her post graduation in political science from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. In 1978, she graduated in law from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Karki married Durga Prasad Subedi. It was a love marriage. Karki met Subedi during her studies in Banaras. Karki’s husband Durga Subedi was a popular youth leader of the Nepali Congress at that time.
