Tamil Nadu: Annamalai may get big responsibility in BJP, decision will be taken after the election of the national president

Chennai. Former Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai may soon get a big responsibility in the party. He may be promoted to the post of General Secretary of BJP. Sources related to the party said that an announcement related to Annamalai will be made after the selection of the BJP President next month.

Sources said, “When Annamalai left the post of Tamil Nadu BJP President in April, he was assured that he would be given a big post in the party. After his resignation, MLA Nainar Nagentharan has been made the head of BJP in the state. However, even though BJP did not get a single seat in Tamil Nadu in the last Lok Sabha elections, its vote percentage increased from three percent to 11 percent. And the credit for this goes to Annamalai.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made it clear on several occasions that Annamalai will play an important role in state politics as well, while he will also be given important responsibility at the national level. However, Annamalai was made a member of the BJP’s National Council the day after he stepped down as Tamil Nadu BJP chief.

Recently, Annamalai reiterated the party’s commitment to the AIADMK alliance in Tamil Nadu and cited Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement that the BJP will be part of the government if the alliance comes to power. K Annamalai, while talking to the media, said, “…Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said many times that the BJP will be part of the government… The alliance (with the AIADMK) should continue.”

Annamalai emphasized Amit Shah’s assurance in which he had assured to formulate a common minimum program acceptable to both the parties, which aims to defeat the DMK in the 2026 assembly elections. He further said, “The Union Home Minister has also said that we will have a common minimum programme which will be acceptable to both the parties.”
