Desk: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat said that the country’s Constitution embodies the spirit of inclusivity. He said that the first word of the Preamble to the Constitution, “We,” conveys the message that the entire India is a single unit and everyone is moving forward together to achieve a common goal. He said that this feeling did not arise after the country gained independence, but rather, the spirit of inclusivity has been inherent in the land of India since the beginning of its religious traditions. This was due to the nature of the religion itself, which inherently contained the spirit of inclusivity and the welfare of all.
A seminar on the topic of ‘Indian History, Culture and Constitution’ is being organized by the ‘Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana’. Addressing the seminar, Mohan Bhagwat said that the Constitution is a written document. The entire country and society have to abide by it. He said that during the British rule, the word “we” had no significance because they did not consider this country a nation. The pictures inscribed on the pages of the Constitution show that our Constitution incorporates the fundamental principles of India’s indigenous traditions. He said this happened because the people who drafted the Indian Constitution were deeply rooted in Indian values and culture.
Bhagwat said that we must bring out the true facts of our tradition and present them to everyone. We need to understand how our traditions and culture are connected to the Constitution and present this understanding to society in a sensible way, because a country functions properly only through understanding. He said that with mutual understanding and support, our society will function well and make the country great.
