
New Delhi: ED, which is investigating the teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal, arrested Trinamool Congress MLA Jeevan Krishna Saha on Monday. When the ED team reached his house in Burwan in Murshidabad district to raid, the MLA tried to escape by jumping over the wall. During this, the ED team caught him by chasing him from a nearby field.
According to ED officials, Krishna Saha was caught from the field while running away and at that time there was mud on his clothes and body. During the raid, the MLA also tried to destroy the evidence and threw his mobile phone in a pond near the house. However, the ED team recovered both his mobile phones from the pond. Now they will be sent for forensic investigation.
Officials said that this raid was done on the basis of information received from a person from Birbhum district, who had revealed the transactions related to the alleged recruitment scam. This person had also reached the TMC MLA’s house with the ED team. The ED team is currently conducting raids at MLA Krishna Saha’s residence in Murshidabad, his in-laws’ house in Raghunathganj and his personal assistant’s house in Birbhum district. The agency said that the MLA is being continuously questioned and he is being taken to Kolkata, where he will be produced in the ED court.
