
Mumbai: It has been raining in the capital of Maharashtra, Mumbai, since yesterday, i.e. Sunday. It is raining intermittently since morning today as well. According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon will arrive in the next 2 to 3 days. There has been no impact on train or road traffic so far due to the rain. However, the administration is keeping an eye and the current situation is being assessed.
According to the IMD, this year the southwest monsoon has knocked in Maharashtra before time and is expected to become fully active in Mumbai with heavy rains in the next few days.
Due to heavy rains in Mumbai, water entered the ground floor hall of Kem Hospital. The place where water has entered inside the hospital is the Pediatric High Efficiency Department, i.e. the PICU ward of children.
Yellow alert in many areas
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and surrounding areas, which means that moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in the coming time, which may affect normal life.
Warning has been issued for coastal districts like Mumbai, Thane and Palghar, where there is a possibility of incidents like strong sea winds and lightning, for which the local administration has appealed to the citizens to be especially cautious.
People transferred from 96 buildings
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and MHADA have identified 96 such buildings in the city, which have been considered dangerous during the rainy season and instructions have been given to shift about 3100 people living in them to safer places.

In view of the old problem of waterlogging in Mumbai, BMC has started preparations like cleaning of drains, repairing pumping stations and monitoring the emergency control room, so that the city’s roads and traffic can be kept smooth during heavy rains.
Appeal to citizens amid bad weather…
BMC has activated a 24×7 disaster control room i.e. war room, where citizens can report any emergency and get help, as well as the operation of local train services and buses is being constantly monitored.
Citizens have been appealed not to leave the house unnecessarily during bad weather, avoid waterlogged areas and immediately contact the helpline numbers issued by the Municipal Corporation in case of any emergency.
The administration has inspected the buildings of schools, hospitals and public places and speeded up the repair work, so that any kind of untoward incident can be prevented and a safe environment can be provided to the citizens.
