Trump said – I am not so foolish, who will give up a free thing worth Rs. 3300 crores

May 13, 2025

New Delhi. US President Donald Trump has been offered a Boeing 747 aircraft worth 400 million dollars (about 3300 crores rupees) as a gift by the royal family of Qatar, which Trump wants to use as “Air Force One”. Trump has said about the gift that I am not so foolish, who will give up a free thing. There is a ruckus all over America about this gift. Opposition parties from Democrats to Republicans are also raising questions on the gift. This proposal of Qatar has now come under controversy in terms of legal, moral and security.

The old president had returned the lions, Trump wants to buy jets
In 1839, when President Martin Van Buren received lions, pearls and horses from the Sultans of Morocco and Oman, he did not accept them. Citing the Constitution, he sought guidance from Congress. Result: The lions went to the zoo, the pearls are in the Smithsonian Museum. Trump’s attitude is completely opposite. He told reporters, “If someone is giving us a free plane, should I be a fool and say I don’t want it?”

What does the US Constitution say
The ‘Emoluments Clause’ of the US Constitution clearly states that no person who holds a position of profit in the US can accept any gift from a king or a foreign state without the permission of Congress. But Trump says that if the plane is given to the Defense Department, then this rule will not apply to him.

Security agencies are also not convinced
President’s security expert Garrett Graf says that taking a foreign used plane for the use of the President is “not wise” but “dangerous”. This plane has been under the control of the Qatar government for a long time, which creates threats like cyber security, espionage and tracking.

Trump’s business spread rapidly in the Middle East
Trump’s proposal has come at a time when his family’s business is growing in the Middle East. Projects like Trump Tower in Saudi Arabia and golf course in Qatar are underway. UAE has made a deal of $ 2 billion through the crypto system created by Trump’s company.

Republicans also in opposition
Former Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy said, “America can make its own plane, we do not need to take it for free from anyone.” At the same time, Democrat MP Dan Goldman launched a scathing attack: “This is a new example of Trump’s corrupt mentality, where the presidency is being used for personal gain.” Trump, who previously took a tough stance on foreign trade by promoting “America First” as a slogan, now seems dependent on foreign donations. This situation is uncomfortable for both his supporters and opponents.
