Washington. The conflict that has been raging in West Asia for over a month has sparked numerous concerns across the globe. To begin with, this conflict is becoming increasingly dire with each passing day. On a front already ablaze from fierce attacks by the US and Israel, Iran is now launching powerful counter-attacks against Israeli targets and US military bases situated in the Gulf nations. Amidst the roar of missiles and drones, this conflict has now entered its 30th day, and tensions across the entire region remain at a fever pitch. On the other hand, in several parts of the United States, “No ‘Kings'” protests were held on Saturday against US President Donald Trump’s war policy regarding Iran.
Hundreds of thousands of people participated in these demonstrations. During the protests, people raised their voices against President Donald Trump’s policies, rising inflation, and the ongoing conflict with Iran. Demonstrations took place in all major cities and small towns, drawing participants from both Republican and Democratic states.
Slogans Chanted and Placards Displayed During Protests
Notably, protesters chanted slogans, displayed placards, and expressed their views through music, singing, and dance. In New York City, people marched from Midtown Manhattan, carrying placards opposing the Trump administration, its immigration policies, and the conflict with Iran. In San Francisco, marchers proceeded from Embarcadero Plaza toward the Civic Center, displaying American flags and banners in support of various movements, such as those advocating for Ukraine and transgender rights.
From St. Paul to Minnesota: Major Rallies Held in Protest
Furthermore, a major rally took place in St. Paul, Minnesota, featuring a performance by rock artist Bruce Springsteen. He hailed Minnesota as an inspiration for the entire nation and paid tribute to Alex Pretli and Renee Good, who were killed by federal immigration agents in January. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz also strongly criticized federal immigration policies and commended local residents for their courage and community support.
This Marks the Third Wave of Protests—An Important Context to Note:
It is noteworthy that the ongoing “No Kings” protests in the United States represent the third wave of such demonstrations. Two major waves of protests took place last year as well, drawing the participation of hundreds of thousands of people. Underlying issues such as inflation, rising fuel prices, and an economic slowdown are among the factors driving these protests. Although a verbal altercation did occur between approximately 50 supporters of President Trump and protesters in West Palm Beach, Florida, the demonstrations remained largely peaceful overall, with the public voicing their dissent against government policies and economic hardships
