
New Delhi: Farmers who have been protesting at Shambhu border (Punjab-Haryana border) for eight months are going to march to Delhi again from today. This time farmers are not going to take tractor-trolleys in their Delhi Chalo movement. This time farmers will march to Delhi on foot. In view of the demonstration, there is strict vigil of police-administration in Ambala (Shambhu border) of Haryana.
Once again the discussion has started on the issue that what is the demand of the farmers doing ‘Delhi March’? Let us tell you that this time farmers are marching to Delhi with their 12 demands. This includes MSP guarantee, compensation and pension to the demand to implement the suggestions of Swaminathan Commission report.
These are the 12 demands of farmers
1. MSP Guarantee Act should be made on the purchase of all crops. On the instructions of Dr. Swaminathan Commission, the prices of all crops should be fixed as per the C2+50% formula.
2. FRP and SAP of sugarcane should be given as per the formula of Swaminathan Commission, making it a national authority for the purchase of all spices including turmeric.
3. Complete loan waiver for farmers and laborers.
4. Unfulfilled demands of the last Delhi movement…
> There should be justice in the Lakhimpur Kheri murder case. Appropriate action should be taken against all the accused.
> As per the agreement of the last movement, the injured should be given a compensation of Rs 10 lakh.
> The cases/cases registered against the farmers during all the movements across the country including Delhi Morcha should be canceled.
> Compensation and jobs should be given to the families of farmers and laborers who lost their lives during the movement.
> Space should be given for the martyrdom memorial of Kisan Morcha in Delhi (Singhu Border).
> During the Delhi Kisan Morcha, it was agreed that the Electricity Amendment Bill, which gives the power sector to private hands, will not be implemented without taking the consumer into confidence, which is currently being implemented through the back door through ordinances, it should be repealed.
> The agriculture sector should be kept out of the pollution law.
5. India should come out of the WTO. The allowance should be increased to reduce the import duty on agricultural commodities, milk products, fruits, vegetables and meat etc. The crops of Indian farmers should be purchased on priority basis.
6. A pension scheme should be implemented for farmers and agricultural laborers above 58 years of age and a pension of Rs 10,000 per month should be given.
7. To improve the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the government should itself pay the insurance premium, all crops should be made a part of the scheme, while assessing the loss, the farm acre should be considered as a unit and the loss should be assessed.
8. The Land Acquisition Act, 2013 should be implemented in the same manner. The instructions given by the Central Government to the states regarding land acquisition should be repealed.
9. Under MNREGA, employment should be provided for 200 days every year, wages should be increased to Rs 700 per day. Agriculture should be included in this.
10. The quality of seeds of all crops including cotton should be improved by amending the Pesticides, Seeds and Fertilizers Act. Companies manufacturing and selling fake and substandard products should be penalized and their license should be cancelled.
11. Implementation of the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution.
12. Demand to make the minimum wage for workers Rs 26 thousand per month.
