Big blow to Congress, state president resigns, takes responsibility for defeat in by-election

New Delhi: Congress has suffered a major setback after the defeat in the Gujarat by-election. State President Shakti Singh Gohil has resigned from his post. He said that taking responsibility for the results of the by-election, I resign from my post. He has written a long post on the social media platform X.

Shakti Singh Gohil said that I am very proud to be a disciplined soldier of India’s oldest and undoubtedly India’s best political party. I have worked hard and always tried to give the best to my party. Unfortunately we did not succeed today. We have lost the Visavadar and Kadi by-elections.

Gohil further said that I appreciate the support and cooperation of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, our visionary leader Rahul Gandhi, Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal and of course our Gujarat in-charge Mukul Wasnik. The guidance of Rajiv ji and Sonia ji has been the biggest blessing of my life. I will always be grateful to them.

He said that I have accepted moral responsibility and resigned from the post of Gujarat Congress President a few hours ago. I thank all my party leaders, the best Babbar Sher workers of the party, my well-wishers, the media and all others for their support and faith in me.
