Major Setback for Congress in MP: District President Resigns

Ratlam: Harsh Vijay Gehlot, the District President of Ratlam Rural Congress in Madhya Pradesh, has resigned from his post. He has sent his resignation to PCC Chief Jitu Patwari. This comes just a day after the announcement of Congress block presidents.

Gehlot’s resignation has sparked various speculations in political circles. However, he cited family reasons and his continuous engagement in his assembly constituency as the reasons for his resignation. This has created a political stir in Madhya Pradesh, from Bhopal to Ratlam.

Harsh Vijay Gehlot is a former Congress MLA who was elected from the Ratlam Rural constituency in 2018. However, he lost in the 2023 assembly elections. The Congress party had given Gehlot a significant responsibility in August 2025 by appointing him as the District President of Ratlam Rural. But now he has resigned from this post. There is speculation in political circles that the resignation is due to the appointment of block presidents not being to his liking. However, no official statement has been released on this matter yet.

PCC Chief Jitu Patwari announced the names of 780 block presidents of the Madhya Pradesh Congress on the night of December 16th. Patwari announced the block and sub-block presidents after the completion of their two-year term. However, the resignation of the Ratlam Rural District President the very next day is considered a significant development. The Congress party says that this was a long process, after which the block presidents were announced.

Harsh Vijay Gehlot has sent his resignation to PCC Chief Jitu Patwari. He stated that he is constantly active in his assembly constituency and is unable to dedicate sufficient time to the District President’s post due to family problems, hence his resignation. However, his resignation has once again created a political stir in the Madhya Pradesh Congress.
