There was a moment on stage when Donald Trump, in the middle of his speech, pointed towards Shahbaz Sharif and said, “Please stand up.” Upon Trump’s request, Shahbaz Sharif immediately stood up from his seat. In viral video clips, Shahbaz Sharif is seen warmly greeting Trump. In one clip, he appears to be leaning slightly and trying to embrace him.
Shahbaz stood up at Trump’s command.
Furthermore, while descending from the stage, Sharif made a brief hand gesture, which social media users are interpreting as a “salute.” Although this wasn’t a formal military salute, his body language has led to accusations of “sycophancy.”
During the same event, Trump was also heard saying, “Please stand up.” Shahbaz Sharif immediately stood up from his seat. This clip is now going viral on social media. During the event, Trump mentioned India-Pakistan tensions and said he had spoken with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier, at the inaugural meeting of the same Board of Peace, Shahbaz Sharif heaped praise on Trump. He said that Trump’s intervention had averted a potential major conflict between India and Pakistan. He described Trump as a “man of peace” and praised his “dynamic leadership.”
