New Delhi: The ongoing tension between the United States and Iran persists. Amidst this, US President Donald Trump has claimed that, acting on the advice of leaders from Arab nations, he has temporarily called off a major military strike against Iran that was scheduled for Tuesday. Iran has hit back at this claim by Trump.
Iran has termed Trump’s assertion a “checkmate.” Iran maintains that its military was fully prepared as early as yesterday to deliver a devastating response—one unlike anything ever witnessed in the history of relations between the two nations. Major General Mohsen Rezaei, an advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, lashed out at Trump’s statement. He remarked, “Trump sets a timeline for a military strike, only to cancel it himself.”
Iran’s Sharp Rebuke to Trump
Rezaei stated that Trump is living under the delusion that he can, in this manner, force the Iranian people and officials to surrender. Expressing confidence in the strength of his nation’s armed forces, the Iranian commander asserted, “The iron fist of Iran’s powerful military and its great people will compel our enemies to retreat and surrender.”
It is worth noting that Trump, in a post on his social media platform “Truth Social,” had claimed: “I received requests from the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani; the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud; and the President of the UAE, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They asked me to halt the military strike we had planned against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was scheduled to take place on Tuesday.”
Trump Takes a Hard Line on Nuclear Weapons
Trump further added that serious discussions regarding this matter are currently underway. He expressed hope that, in accordance with the counsel of these distinguished leaders and allies, an agreement would be reached that is acceptable to both the United States and the nations across the entire West Asian region. Trump warned, “The most crucial aspect of this agreement will be that Iran possesses no nuclear weapons.”
Trump revealed that he had also issued specific directives to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Daniel Kane. He instructed them to be prepared to launch a massive strike against Iran at a moment’s notice should a suitable agreement fail to materialize. Consequently, all eyes are now fixed on the prospect of an agreement between Iran and the United States.
