Datia: The by-election in Datia, Madhya Pradesh, has become a topic of nationwide discussion. The reason behind this is the BJP’s decision to field Ashutosh Tiwari instead of former State Home Minister Narottam Mishra. Following this move, Narottam’s supporters created an uproar in Datia. Today, Narottam Mishra met with BJP leader Nitin Naveen in Delhi. It is reported that he presented his views regarding the ticket allocation.
It is worth noting that a by-election is being held for the Datia seat, a constituency traditionally contested by veteran BJP leader and former State Home Minister Narottam Mishra. However, this time, the BJP denied him the ticket and fielded Ashutosh Tiwari instead. As soon as Tiwari’s name was announced, Narottam Mishra’s supporters staged a massive protest. Starting Friday evening, thousands of supporters blocked National Highway-44, causing a traffic jam stretching approximately 15 kilometers and disrupting traffic in neighboring districts.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mayur Khandelwal stated that the administration repeatedly appealed to the protesters to clear the highway, but they refused. Around 4:00 AM on Saturday, the protesters pelted stones at the police. To bring the situation under control, the police fired tear gas shells. Six police personnel were injured during the incident; the SP and the Additional Superintendent of Police also sustained injuries. The police have detained some individuals, and legal action is being initiated against them. The situation has been brought under control with the deployment of additional police forces in the district.
Summoned to Bhopal
Following the political turmoil in Datia, the state party leadership summoned Narottam Mishra to Bhopal. On Saturday, Mishra visited the Chief Minister’s residence and met with CM Mohan Yadav and State BJP President Hemant Khandelwal. After the meeting, Narottam Mishra stated that a substantive discussion had taken place, focusing on ensuring a victory for the party in Datia. After this, Narottam left for Delhi. On Sunday, he met with BJP National President Nitin Navin for discussions. It is reported that he presented his views regarding the ticket for Datia; however, further details are awaited.
